High Fibre Ingredients

Unlike cows and sheep, dogs are not able to digest significant quantities of dietary fibre to obtain calories but it can have significant physical benefits in the dog’s digestive system. The reason that dogs cannot digest fibre is that it consists of glucose molecules bonded by beta 1,4 linkages and dogs do not have the necessary amylase enzyme to break the beta links. (Cows and sheep get round the problem by having a large rumen which contains bacteria that are rich in the enzyme). By including high quality fibre sources like cellulose and oatfeed in SuperLite® dog foods we are able to give the dog a normal sized feed but with 20% less calories in each meal. * Compared with VetSpec Healthy Dog Complete Dog Food

This table is intended as a guide only and exact feeding amounts should be varied according to your dog's age, sex, breed, condition and activity levels. Please note that feeding amounts should be based on the ideal adult body weight for your dog. Adult dogs should be fed twice per day.
