Growth rates in young dogs
The most rapid period of growth in young dogs occurs during the first six months of life. When they reach maturity they have increased their birth weight by 40- to 50- fold. Supplying a specially formulated puppy and junior diet that has been balanced for growth and development is essential for the attainment of optimum adult size. Young animals benefit from feeding energy and nutrient dense diets because the volume of feed intake need not be excessive and intake will not be limited by the animal’s stomach.

This table is intended as a guide only and exact feeding amounts should be varied according to your puppy’s breed, sex, condition and activity levels. Puppies should be fed 3-4 times per day. When introducing VetSpec into your puppy’s diet we advise that this is done gradually over a period of 5-10 days until it replaces all other food. (It may be moistened if preferred). Fresh drinking water should always be available.
