Milo Chills Out In New Home, Thanks To VetSpec Calm & Focused

At just one-year-old Milo, an abandoned Dalmatian x Lurcher, arrived in England from a shelter in Romania.

Eventually he found his forever home with the Dunnion family from North Lincolnshire after they saw his profile on a rescue centre's page.

He had already had two homes since arriving in the country and through no fault of his own, found himself up for adoption once more following his second owner falling ill and being unable to take care of him.

The Dunnions fell in love with Milo immediately from his photograph and made arrangements to meet him. They adopted him in September 2019 and he joined their family.

However Milo had not had a great start in life. In his early months he had lived on the streets in Romania, before ending up on death row and then being saved at the last minute by a British rescue charity. When he was checked out by the Dunnions' vet, it was confirmed that at some point in his short life, his tail had been broken, and the family soon realised whilst out walking him, that he was terrified of motorbikes and was also very nervous of passing people on the pavements and would try and move away from them.

He also suffered greatly from separation anxiety and when he was left alone in the house for the first time for just 30 minutes, he chewed the furniture and tried to dig and scrabble at the door. His actions were so violent that the lino around the door was covered in blood when the family returned and he had also jumped up onto the table and knocked over and broken a glass. He also had a habit of jumping up and barking at visitors, and nibbled and pulled at their clothing. Apart from this he was loving, gentle and friendly dog.

Said Shawn Dunnion: "It was plain to us that Milo had developed some behavioural issues as a puppy and that we needed to nip them in the bud and also help him to feel more secure and happy in his new environment."

So, as Milo was the family's first ever pet, they took some advice from a professional animal behaviourist, who explained about the different things that cause stress to dogs and how the family should respond to help Milo feel calmer.

They were also advised to try feeding VetSpec Calm & Focused Formula - a complete, super premium dog food containing 60% chicken with added vegetables and herbs and veterinary specification supplements.

VetSpec Calm & Focused Formula is ideal for dogs that get anxious and over-excitable or suffer from separation anxiety or fear of loud noises like fireworks.

It is also very helpful when training young dogs to improve on their focus and obedience. Its formulation includes tryptophan, prebiotics and magnesium together with biotin and other associated nutrients to greatly improve the coat and promote a supple skin.

VetSpec Calm & Focused Formula is wheat-gluten-free with no added colours, preservatives or artificial flavours.

Said Shawn: "We followed the advice on both training and feeding and thanks to a combination of both, Milo has settled down really well and is a much-loved member of our family. He is much calmer in general now and is much better behaved when we have callers to the house. He has responded well to his training and we can also now leave him for longer periods unattended without him getting distressed, although we try to keep this to a minimum. He loves his VetSpec Calm & Focused Formula food and eats up really well."
